- Wide ruled lines are 11/32 inch (8.7 mm) apart, college ruled 9/32 inch (7.1 mm), narrow ruled 1/4 inch (6.35 mm).
- Elementary teachers often ask for wide ruled; high school and college students usually prefer college ruled.
- For kindergarten and 1st grade, handwriting paper with a dashed midline works better than plain lines.
- Print double-sided to make a reusable notebook insert.
Questions
What is the difference between wide ruled and college ruled paper?
Line spacing. Wide ruled lines are 11/32 inch apart (about 8.7 mm); college ruled lines are 9/32 inch (about 7.1 mm), so college ruled fits more lines on a page.
How many lines are on a sheet of lined paper?
A US Letter sheet with half-inch margins has about 30 wide ruled lines or 36 college ruled lines.
Can I print lined paper without the red margin?
Yes. Untick "Red margin line" before you download.
